Light Field Streaming Workshop Added to Display Summit

August 17, 2017 – Insight Media and Third Dimension Technologies announce that the next edition of the Streaming Media for Field of Light Displays (SMFoLD) workshop will now be added to the Display Summit event taking place in Sterling Virginia.  The SMFoLD workshop will be held October 3rd with Display Summit proceeding on October 4-5.

The 2017 edition of the SMFoLD workshop follows last year’s event held at the SMPTE annual conference in Hollywood.  The Oct. 3rd event will feature presentations and discussion about light field displays, light field acquisition, government and military light field applications as well as proposed light field streaming formats and standards activities.

“We were planning on repeating the 2017 workshop at the SMPTE conference, but the dates are a conflict with a major MPEG standards meeting, so we decided to couple it with Display Summit,” noted Insight Media President and conference organizer, Chris Chinnock.  “Display Summit already has an entire morning devoted to light field and advanced display presentations which fits well with the workshop agenda.  Plus, the location near Washington DC is convenient for government and military end users and technologists interested in the whole ecosystem for advanced display technology.”

Display Summit will focus on immersive display technology including advanced displays, visualization/simulation components and systems, LED/MicroLED displays, as well as augmented and virtual reality solutions (see agenda).

Registration for the SMFoLD workshop will be open soon.  You can register for Display Summit Conference now, however.
