JPEG Pleno: A Standard Framework for Representing Plenoptic Modalities

Abstract: JPEG Pleno is a new standardization initiative that intends to define an efficient framework addressing interoperability issues among the plenoptic modalities of light fields, point clouds and holography. JPEG Pleno will address interoperability of devices and applications in each specific modality as well as at a cross modality level. In this presentation, an overview is provided about JPEG Pleno’s current status and future plans.

Speaker: Dr. Zahir Alpaslan, Director of Display Systems, Ostendo Technologies

Bio: Dr. Alpaslan received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees all from the University of Southern California in 1999, 2000 and 2005 respectively.
